Let’s normalise Rareness Awareness with Rare Diseases South Africa

Just like rare cars, jewellery, talents and skills, people with rare diseases should be celebrated. Some of the world’s rarest dolphins, birds, flowers, minerals and diamonds are protected and loved across the globe, what about each incredible person?

Following one of the most challenging years of the 21st century, it’s time to rethink and redesign the global ‘post covid’ story.

  • From sad to inspiring

  • From the inability to ability

  • From fear to hope

  • From the unknown to positive

Tell your story!

Rare Diseases South Africa is redefining what it means to be rare. Because we all are!

If you’ve been impacted by a family member, friend or acquaintance who’s been diagnosed with a rare disease or otherwise, tell us your story! We want to hear what positive impact rare individuals have on the people around them, and how rareness has impacted their lives in a good way.

Everybody has something they can do that others can not - be it to wiggle their ears or do the splits for example. This is the foundation of the viral rare video campaign.

Everything can’t be doom and gloom all the time. Let’s empower and raise awareness for rareness!
