Kudo Setup Guide

Kudos to you!

Congratulations on your brand spanking new Kudo account. This is where time-consuming networking and sales leads go to die, because we’ll automate all of that stuff for you.

We know you want to get the most out of Kudo, so we have put together a guide with some tips to help get you started!

A brief look

Although Kudo is primarily used by sales teams to generate leads for potential buyers, it’s a powerful tool for just about anyone who is looking for more valuable connections on LinkedIn.

What you’ll need

You’ll need a Standard LinkedIn Premium account or a LinkedIn Sales Navigator account to get the most out of LinkedIn.

The first step in setting up Kudo is, of course, account creation. Setting up a profile will take but a few minutes. Simply sign up using your email address, devise a complex, but memorable, password and presto! You’re in.

After creating a Kudo account, you’ll be prompted to link your Premium Linkedin account and head to the dashboard. That’s where all the magic happens.

We know AI is smart, but it cannot read your mind. Before starting your search for potential connections, you’ll need to input some features and qualities you would like Kudo to find for you. In setup, you’ll tell Kudo to search for your ideal customers, employees or partners and select the level of engagement that you want to initiate with them.

Now, Kudo’s AI tools will be ready to dive into the depths of LinkedIn and find the perfect matches. Once Kudo initiates, you can then expect dozens or even hundreds of ideal connections per month, all generated automatically while you sit back and focus on other responsibilities.

Once you’re set up and ready to automate, you can use the tailored automated messages to find the perfect connections, whether it’s to build a community in your industry, find buyers and drive sales, or find the ideal candidate for a position. You'll be able to filter by location, industry, company size, title, seniority level, the technology used by the company, number of followers and much more.

After detailing your needed attributes in the dashboard, Kudo will also allow you to select the desired level of engagement and enable all relevant features like Connection Invites, Sequential Messaging, Free InMails, Twitter Engagement or Profile View Generator.

Start your first campaign

The best way to start? Div right in. When developing your first campaign, we suggest keeping it on the conservative side. As your profile becomes more and more active, these settings can be adjusted.

  • Under “Global Limits” set the maximum for 25 profiles per day

  • You can increase by an extra 5 profiles every 2 days

Pro-Tip: LinkedIn may log you out of Kudo or other devices if it detects that you are logged in using too many sessions. We strongly suggest you have only two active sessions at a time. Likely, your phone or laptop as the first session and Kudo as the second. You can easily view all your active sessions by hading here: https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/sessions

Now you’re ready to start the great search. Start filtering through prospective connections by targeting prospect lists. Something that’ll make this process far less cumbersome, is by running a few initial searches to drill down your ideal connection.

If you’re using LinkedIn Premium, your search results will probably pull up thousands of search results, but only the first 1000 will be accessible for the filter. If you’re equipped with a Sales Navigator account, you’ll get to see up to 2500 possible connections.

Pro-Tip: Searches can be saved and used to target the same audience at a later stage. This will include any prospects that were not included in the first run.

Design a template

Once set up for your first campaign is complete, you’ll need to craft a template message that’ll go out to potential connections. This will go through as an InMail LinkedIn message, so better put on your best writing pants about now.

Pro-Tip: Keep your message conversational -- people are more hesitant to get into an interaction that feels like a sales pitch, so keep your messaging light and friendly. It has to sound like a human wrote it.

Keep your messages short and to the point. No one has time to read through an essay on LinkedIn -- especially if they don’t personally know the person it’s coming from. Basically, the longer a message is, the more likely the prospect will lose interest. Make sure to keep all of the wording concise and to-the-point as to bring your message across immediately. Just make sure to provide a high-level idea of why you’re connecting, with a clear and quick call to action.

Thre, your perfect message has been crafted, what now? Well, if someone were to ignore the first message, it’s always important to follow up. Kudo’s brilliant AI system will automatically pick up if a prospect hasn’t replied, after which it’ll send a follow-up message. Thing is, you need to craft these too.

Pro-Tip: Create two follow-up messages. It is best to reach out 3-4 times in total to gather their attention.

If you’re worried to confuse a prospect with a potentially confusing idea, you can use follow-up messages to create more clarity and go into slightly more detail. This is an awesome way of tailoring the message you want to put out there.

LinkedIn profile tips

Let’s say your first campaign was set up, and started running. Now all you have to do is sit back and watch Kudo work its magic. When messages start flying toward people on LinkedIn, prospects will usually visit your LinkedIn page before accepting a connection request or replying to a message.

So this part’s on you. You’ll need to improve your LinkedIn profile to look professional and inviting to anyone seeing it for the first time. The more robust your profile appears, the more credible you come across and the more likely it is someone will reply. If you do not have a company page, make sure to create one, because some people would like to navigate there and learn more about what you’re pitching.

We’ve compiled a few LinkedIn profile best practises to get that profile polished:

  • Make sure your LinkedIn profile is filled out comprehensively

  • Take and upload a professional profile picture

  • Fill out your summary, with links to your company page or website front and centre

  • Ensure your work history is up-to-date

  • Have at least one professional recommendation
